Approval

Definition

An approval is a human's documented decision that a held action may execute. An effective approval involves the authorized person, the full context (tool, arguments, triggering agent, matching rule) and permanent evidence of the decision and its timestamp.

In practice approvals rarely fail at the decision but on the way there: if the request sits in a dashboard nobody has open, everything queues up. Approvals belong on the decision-maker's channel - first and foremost a signed email link to a verified address, complemented by push, SMS, WhatsApp or Slack - with escalation if nobody reacts. For the evidence, what counts is that channel and recipient of every decision are documented.
