Hold

Definition

A hold is a suspended tool call: an agent's invocation is stopped before execution and waits until a human decides. During the hold the action is neither executed nor discarded - it sits in an approval inbox with full context (tool, arguments, rule).

The hold is the technical heart of human-in-the-loop: it turns "the agent did it, here is the log" into "the agent wanted to do it, a human decided". Deadlines and escalation chains matter so holds never sit unanswered - as does permanent documentation of every decision.
